Oriol Angerri

Dr Oriol Angerri is the Head of the Lithiasis Unit.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and specialised in urology from Fundació Puigvert. He has more than 15 years of experience as a urologist and extensive training in different specialty areas. He was awarded several grants for his academic achievements, which have allowed him to carry out training stays at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden and at the Department of Urology of the University of Miami in the United States.

Throughout his career, he has combined his healthcare and scientific activity, thus actively contributing to several research projects. He has also participated as a speaker at many national and international urology congresses and scientific meetings and has presented over 250 papers, some of which have won awards. He is also the author of more than 70 scientific publications and co-author of textbook chapters on the specialty.

His areas of interest and specialisation are endourology and laparoscopic surgery: percutaneous nephrolithotomy, semirigid and flexible ureteroscopy treated with holmium laser, laparoscopic radical nephrectomy and thulium laser and bipolar TURP for BPH, among other urological diseases and procedures. He has performed more than 5,000 surgical procedures, ranging from the simplest, such as circumcision or vasectomy, to the most complex, such as living donor transplantation.
