Biografía

Dr Anna Bujons is the Head of the Paediatric Urology Unit.

She holds a PhD in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona and is a specialist in Urology. She received her PhD Cum Laude in June 2011 from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) with the thesis entitled "Sexuality in spina bifida". She also holds a master's degree in Cosmetic and Aesthetic Medicine from the University of Barcelona.

Her current work lines focus on the diagnosis and treatment of congenital genitourinary malformations in children and adolescents that are monitored until adulthood, apart from minimally invasive surgery.

Her main lines of clinical research are the management of bladder exstrophy, the comprehensive management of urinary lithiasis in children and urinary malformations of the upper and lower urinary tract, as well as basic research on adipose-derived stem cells for reconstructions of the lower urinary tract.

Moreover, she addresses the following disorders, treatments and areas of specialisation:

She combines her profession and teaching as a professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and master's courses in Paediatric Urology and Andrology.

Actividad docente y científica

Clinical Associate at the Department of Surgery of the Faculty of Medicine of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
Professor of the master's degree in Paediatric Urology, International University of Andalusia (UNIA), since 2014.
Professor of the master's degree in Clinical Andrology (1st-4th Edition), Fundació Puigvert and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB).
Professor of the master's degree in Clinical Andrology (5th Edition), Fundació Puigvert and Universitat de Vic (UViC).
She has participated in many courses, congresses and national and international symposiums by giving lectures on congenital genitourinary malformations and orphan diseases, where she is a reference, as well as minimally invasive surgery in children.
Author of publications in indexed urological journals on congenital genitourinary malformations, minimally invasive surgery in children and paediatric lithiasis, as well as chapters in books on robot-assisted surgery.
Basic research: principal investigator of the project "Generation of an in vitro bladder model from stem cells obtained from fat tissue. Tissue engineering applied to neobladders". Fundació Puigvert-IIB Sant Pau (Fundació Institut de Recerca Hospital de Sant Pau). Start in 2020 to present.

Pedro Cifuentes Grant awarded by the Foundation for Urology Research (FIU) for the 2015-2018 research study: "Stem cell-rich autologous fat grafting as a treatment for abdominal wall defects in patients with exstrophy-epispadias complex".
